Sweet 16 - FMS 171

This is a card which I need for the weekend, and I thought the FMS sketch this week would do the job.
Two happy accidents, I think, on this card :-)  I used my NBUS Sheena Douglas emboss folder to emboss the pink card.  It needed two passes, and as I was putting the card back in the folder, I dropped the folder and the card!  When I embossed - yep, you guessed it - I got it the wrong way round, so the top of the card is deboss, and the bottom emboss.  But, you know what, I think I like it.  And the second happy accident?
I stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss onto a piece of card - then lost it!  Do you think I could find it - how does that happen?!  So I stamped again with a lighter purple ink, and I think it works better as it does not detract from the image.  I, found the first sentiment stuck to the bottom of the sewing machine when I went to put it away!

Anyway, if you are still with me after all that rambling, here is the card and sketch:
Thanks for looking.

Pinterest CASE day and Snippets Playground 161

I had been pondering a punchy title for my post, but I can only ever come up with boring ones - straight to the point! (lol).

My card today was inspired by my pinterest board pin
and Becky's link can be found HERE.  So thank you Becky for the inspiration, and here is my card:
This is a tall, skinny card, and I decided to add a Really Red mat.  The butterflies were dry embossed, inks used are Real Red, Tangelo Twist, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise and Gumball Green.  The spatter stamp was from the SU Grunge set.

As I have used snippets of card for the butterflies, this card is winging its way to Di's Snippets Playground.
(Thanks for showcasing my card Di, much appreciated).
Thank you for visiting.

Less is More - Week 208 - Sketch

Hello there, here is the sketch for LIM

and here is my card:
I received a freebie stamp set from Simply Cards and Papercraft on Saturday - by Clearly Besotted - and I just had to play with the rose and stem stamps straight away.  The heart and sentiment stamp are from Stampin' Up called Perfect Pennants.  The other freebie stamps are equally gorgeous, and I may have to use this fabulous sketch again.

I used Spectrum Noir pens to colour in: PP2, PP4, BP1, BP£, CG4, DG1, and the blender for highlights.  I am not that great with blending just yet, and had to have a few goes on scrap card before I got the colour tones I wanted.  Thanks for looking.  See you soon.

Less is More, and Fusion challenges

Hello there, hope you are all nice and warm in your craft pods because it is freezing out there tonight.
I am entering my card into two challenges today - Less is More (Week 207: Theme) which is about FRIENDSHIP, and Fusion Challenge -TWO HEARTS (and yes, i know, I only have one heart on my card ;-)  ).

Here is the Fusion inspiration:

The background colour inspired me to use SU Blue Lagoon for my circles, and I brayered the wood stamp in Soft Suede.  I have used the SU Petite Petals and punch, and the sentiment and heart is from a Whimsey stamp set.  Other colours are Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey.  See you soon, take care.

EDIT:  I shall also be entering this card into the CASology challenge - Week 130 Friend.

Snippets playground #160 and pinterest share

I have got quite a few pins on my pinterest board now - and I am thinking, 'what do I do with all of them?'
So I have decided that each week ( no particular day - because I am quite  a random-type person you know)  I would take a browse through and CASE a card.  So here is my first one
Here is my card which has been CASEd from this  beauty:
So my thanks goes to Stephanie, and you can find the link to her blog HERE.

As I have used up scraps of white card to stamp and punch out my flowers, and for the mat and sentiment, I shall be joining all the pals over at Di's Snippets Playground.  There have been some wonderful showcases this week.
Bye for now,

Getting organised!

Well, I haven't got a card to share with you today, but I thought I would show you the boxes I have made to store my dies and emboss folders, ready to put on my shelf once hubby has decided to make a start on the DIY.

Now these little darlings were made using the fabulous instructions and videos courtesy of Sam, over on her blog Pootles.  Just scroll down the archives.  Thanks very much Sam :-)
It is such a good way of using up those scraps of designer papers, ribbons and embellishments, and so I shall be skipping over to the playground again this week.  Catch up with you all soon.

N.B.U.S.

Here is my card that I wish to enter for several challenges:

Yes, I am again taking part in Darnell's wonderful using up our 'never before used schtuff'.  My  card features the Clearly Besotted tag outline stamp, and the sentiment stamp, which are my NBUS, oh, and the butterfly stamp.  I have used the dies before, but sometimes I get too idle to stamp!  This card will also be linked to the following challenges:

Freshly made sketches 168

I thought that the sketch at FMS this week was just the one for my Project Life cards.
And here is my card:
Because of the size of my mats, I felt that they suited a square card base, but all the elements are there. Thanks for looking.

Butterfly challenge 21

I haven't been able to join in with this challenge for a long time, so I have thoroughly enjoyed making a card for this challenge.  This time it is "thank you with butterfly/flies".
I do apologise for all the background, but I could not figure out how to do it, as I uploaded a different way.  However, the card showcases some of the Project Life mats - my bargain buy which was in my previous post, some SU burlap ribbon and butterfly die cuts from Clearly Besotted.

Bargain buy!

Just look what I found in my local charity shop:

All this just for £1.99.  Now I haven't counted to see if all 616 cards are there but it seems complete.  I'm not a scrapbooker, but i can see some of these being used on my cards, and here i show just a selection of them.  I am really pleased with my find.  Thanks for looking. Lynn x

Snippets playground week 158

I have  had to make a sympathy card - I find them so difficult to make.  This will be going to a neighbour who has sadly lost a member of the family.
This card uses Stampin Up smokey slate base card, blackberry bliss for the banner.  The font was computer generated.  The flower and die was from Stampin Up Secret Garden.  As my mojo has left the building, I took inspiration from my pinterest board, and I have to thank Erna for her fabulous card which you can see HERE.  As I have used snippets of blackberry bliss and lilac card, I shall be joining in the Snippets Playground - not been there for a while - I wonder if there have been any changes?

Less is More week 205 - colour challenge

The colour challenge at LIM is BLACK, METALLIC + ONE.  I have chosen to use cream, and the metallic is metallic thread and my jose rose nail heads.  The emboss folder is a freebie from Simply Cards and Papercraft, and this is the first time I have used it.
The flower punch is Stampin' Up and so is the burlap ribbon, and the word die is from Clearly Besotted.  Thanks for looking - and the link to the challenge is HERE.

Edit:  Di, over at the Snippets Playground said that Darnell (djkardkreations) has a new challenge for 'new schtuff' (button on side bar of my blog).  So I shall be entering this little card into that as the emboss folder was brand-spanking new.

Resolution 2015

Happy Saturday.  I have been pondering about what crafty resolution to make this year.  I have tried out different styles of cards during my fairly short time at crafting, and I have listened to what family and friends have commented about my cards. (I always ask for an honest opinion - but they are just too polite, lol).

So, my resolution for 2015 will be to try more clean and simple, or clean and layered cards.  I shall be checking out all those clean and simple challenge blogs out there, and pinning some of the beautiful inspirational cards that are out there.

Happy crafting! xxx Lynn

New start - 2015

Happy New Year everyone.  Have an amazing year.
"We will open the book,
its pages are blank.
We're going to put words on them ourselves.
The book is called
Opportunity
and its first chapter is
New Year's Day"

Edith Lovejoy Pierce

My first opportunity this New Year's Day, is to commence blogging again, now that I have a repaired
computer.  If you happen to find my blog, please leave a comment - it will be much appreciated, and I can visit you.
